Mahaulepu Beach

Mahaulepu Beach, located in Poipu past Shipwrecks Beach, is a truly off-the-beaten-path Kauai wedding location. Accessible via a long dirt road, this remote beach offers a stunning and unique setting with cliffs, mountain views and plenty of pine trees for shade. On occasion, you might even spot a monk seal resting on the sand—an unforgettable addition to your ceremony or photo session.

While its beauty and seclusion make it exceptional, Mahaulepu does come with logistical considerations. The beach is only open to vehicles on Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays from 8am to 6pm, and the dirt road can be bumpy and dusty. Couples must plan their return to be at the main gate by 6pm to avoid being locked in overnight. Due to the distance and travel time, an additional travel fee applies for weddings at Mahaulepu.
