Are you planning on having kids at your Hawaii beach wedding?
No problem! Here at Aloha Ever After we are very accustomed to having young children present at the ceremony. We ourselves have 2 beautiful (and active!) young boys so we know exactly what it’s like entertain kids and keep them amused during a more “adult” occasion. In our opinion having kids at your Hawaii beach wedding is a wonderful thing and not something to avoid. The experience of a wedding and celebration of love will rub off on your child and influence and shape him/her in ways you may not even perceive.
If You Want Kids at your Hawaii Beach Wedding, Bring Lots of Props
One of the best ways to keep kids occupied during a more serious or solemn ceremony is to have a truckload of props. Bring toys you know they like, but bring ones which are not noisy (no annoying battery operated robotic voices) and which do not require adult help or interaction. Most boys love toy cars, trucks, planes or other vehicles. If you are having a Kauai beach wedding on the sand, try bringing some beach toys like shovels, spades and sandcastles. Construction vehicles are also a hit, especially anything that can scoop or dig in the sand.
Include Them in the Ceremony
Kids love being included in things and being the center of attention. As you can see in the photos to the side, you can include kids in your sacred Circle of Flowers, as ring-bearers (be careful they don’t drop the ring in the sand though!), flower girls, etc.
Do Some Funny Photos!
Kids love playing around and being silly, so why not do some funny photos? Make a competition out of how who can do the silliest and funniest faces! It will get everyone giggling, laughing and enjoying themselves, and who knows – you may just discover you’re not only doing it for the kids’ benefit! Timory has a section entitled “Playful Photos While Having Fun” halfway down the Photography Gallery page. She’s very used to working with children and knows how to make an entertaining Hawaii beach wedding for kids as well as adults.
