Want to get married on Kauai? I’ve been a wedding planner on Kauai for going on 7 years now
and I frequently find people pose the same questions and concerns. So I thought I would take this opportunity to answer a few at a time. I hope this helps!
1. Are there better or more busy days of the week to get married on Kauai?
The answer is there are not really better days to get married on Kauai; just pick the day of your choice. There may be busier or less busier days of the week on a given beach (especially Shipwreck’s beach as all the tourists stay on that side of the island, so that’s where they get married). However if a certain date works for you we suggest you go with the date you want rather than worrying what day of the week it is – because the “busy-ness” of a day is less dependent on the day itself and more dependent on the time of year.
2. Are there certain days vendors (e.g. hair people and ministers) will not work?
No, in the wedding industry here we all work 7 days a week to accommodate the client’s schedule. If a minister is the head of their church they normally do not work Sunday am, but the rest of the day is fine. God does not mind if we work on Sundays here on Kauai. 🙂
3. Are certain days of the week cheaper to get married or go to restaurants or have receptions?
No. Again, if rates were to change it would depend on high and low tourist season, not days of the week. So, for example, since low tourist season is until the first week in June, there is more availability until then.
4. When is high tourist season and does it effect when we should do our wedding?
Normally high tourist season follows the normal school year calender, so if your kids have time off school, then it’s probably when tourists flock to Kauai (i.e. first week of June through August, spring break and Christmas break are the peak of tourist season). This will not affect the price of your wedding, but it will affect the price of your hotel, airfare and paid activities.
I hope this answered some frequently asked questions about on the timing of when to get married on Kauai!
